Now Instagram has been Strict ! If such a message is sent to someone's inbox, then the account can be closed permanently.

Instagram is preparing for action on hate speech.

The social media site Instagram is going to tighten its policy, in which a complaint has been received against a user that if he spreads hate messages, then his account will be closed.

Instagram has announced it's toughening its rules on hate speech directed at individual users through their messaging system.

In a blog post, the Facebook-owned company said they've seen an uptick of hate speech in people's Direct Messages (DMs) and they admit these types of hate messages are harder to address than the comments section of an image posted to the social media platform.

Instagram said their rules against hate speech "don't tolerate attacks on people based on their protected characteristics, including race or religion."

The company has also developed tools to find hate speech faster. "Between July and September of last year, we took action on 6.5 million pieces of hate speech on Instagram, including in DMs, 95% of which we found before anyone reported it," the blog post said.

The popular photo-sharing app Instagram (Instagram) is finding strict ways to deal with hate speech abuse, abuse and bullying that users receive in their direct messages (DM). The social media platform will soon disable such accounts, which send messages that are abusive and hateful to DMs.

Instagram - Hate Speech

Instagram states, 'Our rules against hate speech do not tolerate attacks on people based on their protected characteristics, including race or religion'. Instagram says that from now on, if anyone breaks the policy, then his account will be closed.

At present, if the user was found guilty of sending an abusive message, then he will be banned from sending any more messages for the specified time. Also, if the user continuously sends hate messages, then his account will be closed forever.

The social media site Instagram is going to tighten its policy, in which a complaint has come against a user that if he messes dirty or abuses a post, then his Instagram account can be closed.

The company said they'll also disable accounts of people who try to maneuver around these messaging restrictions and will also disable any accounts created to just sent abusive messages.

In addition, Instagram announced a number of tools people can use to protect themselves.  These include comment filters to prevent others from leaving offensive comments that use words, phrases, or emojis they don't want to see.

The company said they're "committed to doing everything we can to fight hate and racism on our platform, but we also know these problems are bigger than us."

Hate speech controls will become stronger

Instagram will also take strict action on such accounts, which have been specially made for abusive speech. Instagram is making the Hate Speech Controls mechanism strong.

Currently, Instagram gives business / creator accounts the option to close DM for those whom they do not follow. This avoids abusive / unnecessary messages. Now Instagram is planning to start this feature for personal accounts as well.
